Bone Grafts

Dental bone grafts are grafting techniques used to help increase the amount of bone in the jaw or surrounding teeth where there has been a significant loss of bony tissue, or where additional support is indicated (such as in the case of preparing for implant placement).

Oftentimes, this procedure is called “socket preservation” meaning that bone grafting material is placed in an area where there has been a tooth extracted in order to “preserve” the socket height (the bone height). Preserving bone is crucial to many areas of the mouth and your dentist will review whether this is a necessary procedure after an extraction or any periodontal procedures are completed.

There are various types of bone grafting materials available, and your Briter Dental dentist will carefully review your options and the benefits of each based on your individual, customized needs for treatment.
